The Unstoppable Maggie McGee

“… I love this story! It’s beautifully told and I love the way it shows the power of the imagination to take you wherever you want to go….a great story... [which] has something to say to all children…”
Malorie Blackman, Children’s Laureate 2013-2015

"A beautiful, unflinching story that discovers joy in a child's experience of hospital life. Warm-hearted, brave and unstoppable like Maggie herself"

Candy Gourlay, author of Tall Story and Shine.

"... a wonderful book!"

Pippa Goodhart, author of

You Choose.

I was commissioned to work with children at Birmingham Children's Hospital and their siblings, and with outpatients with chronic conditions, and then to write a picture book, inspired by the children I worked with. The Unstoppable Maggie McGee (illustrated by Dave Gray) is the result. To read more about the story behind the story, click here for my blog  and to see videos and more about the whole project, visit www.unstoppablemaggie.co.uk. All £6 from the sale of each book goes straight to Birmingham Children's Hospital's Magnolia House Appeal. To buy a copy of the book online (with £6 going to the hospital), click here. Over £40,000 in books sales has been raised so far.
