I love picture books. I love reading them and I love writing them.

My first two pictures books will be coming out in 2011. In Don't Panic, Annika! (Piccadilly Press, February 2011),  little Annika panics at the smallest thing. But when something really does go wrong, can she remain calm and save the day? (Answer: yes -with a little help from her beloved Moose.)

The Kite Princess, published by Barefoot Books, is a rhyming story about Cinnamon Stitch, a princess who longs to be wild and free. When the guard brings a bedraggled Cinnamon home in disgrace after swimming in the slimy lake and clambering up trees, Cinnamon starts to sew, much to the delight of her stuffy parents. Has she changed? Is she going to be a 'proper' princess and behave nicely and make beautiful dresses for herself? Or is she planning something very, very different, right under their noses?

I love the way that picture book stories are told through the pictures as well as the text. And it's very exciting to see one of my stories become one of our stories and take on a whole new life with someone else's illustrations. It's been a very exciting year...
